YCH Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Center

WOUND CARE AND HYPERBARIC OXYGEN THERAPY

Healing Wounds is Our Specialty

We are a specialized outpatient wound care treatment center dedicated to the care of patients with wounds. Wounds that are hard-to-heal and/or non-healing may be a result of pressure, trauma or infection. Sometimes, the simplest of wounds can turn into a significant problem due to underlying conditions such as diabetes, circulation problems or previous radiation treatment.

Since non-healing wounds rarely result from a single cause, we treat the whole person, not just the wound. Our team of experienced wound care specialists will assess your symptoms, determine the underlying cause of your non-healing wound and customize the most effective treatment plan to stimulate healing. Our treatment plans are designed to complement the care your own physician provides, ensuring that your health care team is always working together to provide the treatment that’s right for you. Non-healing wounds can have serious health consequences and may adversely affect your quality of life. If you have a wound or an ulcer that is not healing, or any wound that is of concern, ask your physician for a referral to the wound center or contact us directly for an appointment.

We utilize best clinical practices that begin with a thorough patient evaluation and diagnostic testing to determine wound etiology. An individualized care plan is then developed using evidence based therapies that are highly effective in facilitating the healing process and may include:

• Surgical debridement
• Offloading
• Vacuum-assisted closure
• Specialty dressings and wraps
• Cellular and/or tissue-based products (skin substitutes)
• Hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) therapy
• Compression therapy
• Surgical interventions, when indicated

Even the most difficult wounds that have not responded to other treatments may see significant improvement at our center.

The YCH Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Center is located within Yoakum Community Hospital, 1200 Carl Ramert Drive, Suite D, Yoakum, TX 77995.

Our Center Offers Hyperbaric Oxygen (HBO) Therapy

The YCH Wound Healing Center added hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) therapy to its service offerings.

Hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) therapy is the utilization of oxygen under pressure to enhance the body’s natural ability to heal. Patients breathe 100% oxygen inside a chamber that is pressurized at 2-3 times greater than atmospheric pressure. Increasing the partial pressure of oxygen allows it to dissolve in the plasma, leaving the plasma supersaturated with oxygen. The increase in tissue oxygenation works to combat bacteria and promote angiogenesis. HBO is used as an adjunctive therapy for many indications, including:

• Diabetic wounds of the lower extremities
• Chronic, refractory osteomyelitis
• Delayed radiation injury (soft tissue and bony necrosis)
• Osteoradionecrosis
• Preparation or preservation of compromised skin grafts (preparation is indicated only for patients who have had a previously failed graft)
• Compromised flaps
• Crush injuries
