YCH Remodel Expands Services, Offers Patient Comfort

By June 28, 2019July 1st, 2019Uncategorized

For Yoakum Community Hospital, remodeling the facility will open new doors for the community. Departmental redesign—without the need for additional square footage—promises to enhance the patient experience.

The remodel will consist of relocating the current Laboratory department to the previously closed Labor and Delivery department, while the hospital Pharmacy will move over to the Laboratory. In addition, the space that the Pharmacy occupies will be used as a space to house a new Hyperbaric Chamber for the current Wound Care services. The Chamber room will back up to Day Surgery, which is where Wound Care takes place every Thursday from 8-12 p.m.

The expected completion date for the remodel will be December of 2019. The project occurs in two phases: Phase 1, completion of the new Laboratory space, is anticipated by August; and Phase 2, completion of new Pharmacy and Hyperbaric Chamber room, is anticipated by year-end.

Relocation of departments will allow the hospital to complete more lab studies on site, allow for an infusion room to be added in the Lab and allow for a larger waiting room area for the comfort of patients awaiting their labs.

In the ever-changing world of healthcare, services are performed more and more in the Outpatient setting. Yoakum Community Hospital is doing its best to be proactive in providing state-of-the-art services to our community.

“We ask for your patience during the remodel, as there are many moving parts to this project,” said Karen Barber, Chief Executive Officer. “If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call me at (361) 293-2321 ext. 101!”
